Personal log

Lt. Malia Corter

Stardate 57773.3

It's a little after one o'clock AM, station time, and I can't sleep.

I keep thinking about that log and whatever the hell the Asphodel found that tore it apart. I always knew there was strange creatures out in the galaxy, but this... God, it's like a nightmare come true. I can't even begin to imagine what it was like to be on that ship as their entire realities just got torn apart like that.

I tapped into the Starfleet registry. The USS Asphodel, registry NCC 65666 - man, isn't that on-the-nose? - is listed as a "containment ship," the details of which are classified by Starfleet Intelligence. But given what was stated in the log, "to explore and contain the unknown," I can only guess that it has something to do with containing threats to the Federation? I have no idea. All I know is that for a "containment" vessel, it didn't do a damn bit of good to protect against... that thing.

There's one other thing that doesn't sit right with me, something I didn't add into the official report. Maybe I should have, but I don't know what to make of it yet.

The repair crews were able to recover the entire ship's roster.

According to the crew manifest, the captain of the USS Asphodel was Captain Lyle Northrup - not, as the log indicates, Jacob Simmons.

The other names that came up during the log - science officer T'var and helmsman Ramirez - both checked out. The records also show that the first officer was a Commander Elara Masterton.

But there's no Jacob Simmons in the crew manifest of the USS Asphodel. What the hell does this mean? Who was it that made the log that I listened to?

God...

Just what the hell happened on that ship?
